My overall experience at BSU has been ‘okay’ thus far. Aside from student life/events and academics, which were wonderful, housing was a nightmare. I (along with many others) faced any problems with housing on campus. I had trouble signing onto the portal; I sat for hours starring mindless at my computer waiting and constantly refreshing the page; making calls hoping to get an answer; I had to deal with the repetitive maintenance that did nothing but fuel my anxiety and frustration; I did not get to choose my room nor my roommate. The whole process was a pain to deal with and I hope it gets better next year.

I appreciate Ball State's many opportunities that allow students to connect and explore their collective interests. It seems like there is a club for pretty much anything you can think of. There are tons of great theater events to attend, however, the on-campus college-regulated parties are a bit lackluster. I have not participated in the party experience off campus because I feel unsafe traveling to and attending these events. I am not interested in the rowdy fraternity party scene so I can't report on any of my own experiences. But, from what I have heard from others they are not always safe, especially for female-presenting people. But this issue is definitely not unique to Ball State.

I thought Ball State University was a good school. I was happy with my choice to go there. By the end, I felt like I could've been challenged more by the school and its academics, but otherwise, it was good. The professors were good for the most part. I think there could've been more in each department since some professors don't line up with every students learning style. The campus itself is beautiful. It's big enough where you can always meet new people, but it's small enough where you can get around easily and see your friends often. The school was well rounded, and having to take a variety of classes was beneficial. Although I didn't finish it, I highly recommend the honors classes because the cultures courses have been useful, and I reference those classes most. Being involved is super important for having a social life and getting experience in your field. I highly recommend getting out of your comfort zone. Muncie has character and isn't as bad as people say it is.
