I definitely had some successes, like swimming the full 2.4 miles in a pretty good time.

I was really pleased with my 1-hour, 26-minute swim. At Ironman Louisville, be swimming with a wetsuit, which adds buoyancy and should help my swim time pretty significantly. That practice swim has me right on target for my race goal of 1 hour, 20 minutes. I also completed a really tough track run workout with 1,000 meters intervals. I was able to keep each 1,000 at a 7:30 to 7:45 minutes-per-mile pace.

I have never been a girl been close to running a mile in the seven-minute range, so that felt great. But this past weekend, I struggled. Saturday morning, I knew it was going to be a long weekend, because when I got up, I was tired. I was angry; I was fed up with being awake before everyone else in the whole world. I wanted to sleep and hang out with my family.

But, I was driving to Brownstown at 6:15 a.m. to start a 90-mile, hilly ride to Bedford and back with my friend Travis Fittro. He has completed Ironman Louisville every year since it began, so a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Travis is an excellent cyclist and is really fast, which makes me a bit intimidated by him. However, such a great guy and is always willing to share his knowledge about triathlons to help other athletes.

Anyway, this ride was a killer. It was so hilly. I think there were three different hills that I was riding that I just wanted to quit. I thought to myself, is not fun. I want to be here.

It hurts and is hard, and I just want to Somehow, I was able to get myself through the bike. not really sure how because I was not in a great spot mentally. When we finished the ride (it only ended up being 80 miles though because Travis crashed with some minor injuries), I went home and focused on getting some proper nutrition to fuel my body for my next two workouts. Coach Greg (Reasoner) had me going home after my ride and relaxing. Then around 7 p.m.

to 8 p.m. that night, I had to run 10 miles. First thing Sunday morning, I had to run another 10 miles. I think this simulates a 20-mile run, but with some recovery in between so not so hard on your body. I cried three times Saturday evening, trying to muster up some energy and motivation to run.

I called so many of my friends, looking for help. I talked to my mom. I called my brother. But no one got me up and out the door. This was a pivotal moment for me.

I realized that this is what all about on race day. It has to be me. No one else can motivate me to keep going. It has to come from somewhere within me. I have to be the one to get myself on the road.

I pulled myself off of the couch and got out there and ran. It fast, but it got done. And on Sunday morning, I got up and out the door. run was even tougher. But each time, I kept saying to myself, one foot in front of the I walk and I quit.

I was really proud of myself for finishing. I know this was a great mental race day simulation. I know that I have what it takes to complete Ironman Louisville within me, I just have to dig deep and keep going and praying. I need to have the confidence in myself and all that been through this past year, to know that strong enough to endure. Stacey Parisi is a Seymour native and resident.

Situated in a picturesque woodland setting, the recreation area has a campground, reservoir, creek, hiking trails, picnic areas, wildlife watching and more. a place any outdoor enthusiast should enjoy.

Located just east of Rockville on U.S. 36 in west- central Indiana, the recreation area is composed of 4,065 combined acres of land and water. It has all the modern amenities one could want but also lets you easily escape into the backcountry. It is located close to many of the famous covered bridges of Parke County and could serve as your hub during the annual Covered Bridge Festival. Cecil M.

Harden Reservoir is the main attraction for most visitors. a beautiful body of water offering a multitude of angling opportunities. For those who would rather just boat and relax, the lake is plenty big enough to allow for pleasure boating. Numerous coves allow for anchoring and swimming. The reservoir has an average depth of 24 feet and a maximum depth of 70 feet.

There is good access to the water for both shore and boat anglers. With five public boat ramps on the lake, it is easy to find a location to launch your craft. The reservoir is home to numerous species of fish, including crappie, bluegill, white bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, striped bass, catfish, perch, walleye and carp. Crappie is likely the most sought after fish in the lake. In the fall, look for crappies around natural structure and rock banks on the narrow, north end of the lake and in all the coves and bays.

Trees fallen over in the water and submerged brush piles are key locations. Brush or bushes partially in the water may also hold crappie. As far as bait goes, for me, it get any better than crappie minnows under slip bobbers. Of course, jigs and spinners also produce fish. If interested in pursuing larger fish, try catching channel catfish roaming the flats after dark or fishing for walleyes along the dam.

Walleye are one of my favorite fish to eat, and since not too many Indiana lakes or reservoirs offer walleye, Cecil M. Harden is one of my go-to reservoirs. I like slow trolling crank- baits for them at dawn and dusk along breaks and drop-offs. Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area has excellent camping. There are electric, non-electric and primitive campsites.

Since the park is so popular, the campsites fill up rather quickly, and it can be hard to find a site during the peak camping months of summer. You might want to make a reservation. They are available through the Central Reservation System. There are a number of other amenities on the property, too. a camp store with necessary supplies.

Forget that the Salukis are an FCS opponent. The only other time Indiana has played Southern Illinois was 2006 when Indiana blew a 21-7 third-quarter lead at home, and the Salukis left with a stunning 35-28 victory.

No one in the current program was there that day but you have guessed it from the talk this week. Illinois is a winning, prideful program and it has been that way for said Indiana coach Kevin Wilson, who officially kicks off his fifth season as head coach Saturday. an FCS program but a good number of those teams have matched up well. Hoosiers quarterback Nate Sudfeld said this focus has been clear.

Indiana State last year played us pretty well defensively and everything seen from Southern Illinois to this point has me impressed early As a program, Indiana has no reason to look beyond any opponent whether a Big Ten rival or non-conference foe. In the last 21 seasons, Indiana has only been to one bowl game the 2007 Insight Bowl. Southern Illinois is coming off a 6-6 record last season including a 3-5 record in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
